What's New at P.A.S.O

Updated January 16, 2005

Due to the overwhelming number of emails from people wanting parrots we are requesting that anyone wishing to adopt check the Angels for adoption link regularly as it is updated as soon as there are birds available for adoption.  It is getting increasingly more difficult to monitor requests.  Please note that we are here to find the best homes for the birds we do not operate on a first come first serve basis.

Our quarentine/hospital area is now set up for new rescues and any birds in need.

We have opened a satelite location in Beamsville to assist in drop off transporting and fostering parrots that come to us from those in the Hamilton, Niagara, Halton Regions. We want to welcome Susan Wells into our PASO family.  We will continue to have one point of contact and all arrangements will be made through the same channels.

Lots of birds coming and going.  Make sure you check out our Angels for Adoption page as there are several birds needing forever homes.

We have been asked to participate in a documentary about Parrot Rescue.  Filming is completed. Keep an eye out for Parrots - A World Apart.  It was a fun day had by all.  Of course the birds were all little stinkers and would only perform once the cameras were off!  This is exciting as it will give us the opportunity to educate the public on parrot ownership and education on rescue issues.  We were told that the film will be available sometime next year.  We will continue to update you when we have further details.  Watch for it at the Toronto Film Festival.

We are in the process of building an outdoor heated aviary for our birds.  We have recieved some generous donations of a gift certificate for Sheridan Nurseries we would like to thank Dennis and Veronica Lam.  We have planted some parrot friendly trees including several apple, peach, pear and mulberry trees, as well as some rasberry and blueberry plants for the birds.  If anyone has any greenhouses that they no longer use or florida rooms or anything of the sort please think of us.

Some life changes can put people in the position that they are no longer able to or capable of looking after their birds. Others become hard to handle, require special attention or don't fit in with the changes taking place in your life. We work at educating parrot owners to assist them in meeting the challenges of owning parrots and rescuing parrots when education is not the key. We provide foster care to those that need temporary or long term care.

For emergency rescues please call the number above or 905-922-5972 (this number is for emergencies only.  Emails are checked regularly but in case of emergency please use the phone numbers provided.

We also offer a home for those that wish to will their birds to remain in the rescue.  Whether you would like us to keep your pet bird or find a loving home for it.  You will be comforted knowing that your wishes will be taken care of.

Please note that this service is for Birds ONLY. We do not adopt other animals.

We work with and monitor the Parrots and try to find suitable forever homes taking many things into consideration before a parrot is placed.  Those that are not suitable will find a forever home with us where they will receive excellent medical care and be given all the love and special attention they need.  We do not believe in euthanasia and will work to save all unwanted and abused birds.

If you have a bird that is in need of rescue or know of one, or if you are interested in adoption please send an email to   parrotadopt@sympatico.ca or call 905-728-0987.
